The plot of the movie in questions has a town full of people gathered in the town hall for safety. They realize that in order to get rid of this "thing" they have to sacrifice on of their children to it. The parents draw stones to see which kid must go.

In movies, it always seems like Black people are portrayed as the loud, ebonic-speaking, ghetto, scared of ghosts, run as fast as possible away from anything that endangers them character. Anyone else notice this? I just saw this ANIMATED movie, Monster House, the other day, and even that kids movie had a black character that was completely a joke. Why does this happen? And why do Black actors sign on to these projects that blatantly make fun of themselves?

We just watched...You, Me and Dupree, what a horrible movie, I love Kate Hudson, so I thought it would be a good one, it had some funny parts, but the ending SUCKED!
The Villiage is another stupid one......

Wonder if anyone can recommend any theoretical books that concentrate on short films and their narritives, rather than features?

I'm starting an MA in January and that's the subject we're covering in our first term so I want to get a head start(!).
