I'm not an expert yet but I thought Nero would convert it itself, and that takes hours? (convert from avi to supervideo)
What about converting to divx, with a free converter?

You might need to buy a Nero plugin.

vob, ifo and bup are extensions for DVD movie files. Without a vob file the movie won't play on a DVD player. You ned to convert the avi file to a vob file (the ifo, meaning information and bup meaning backup files should be created automatically).

Problem is Nero often screws up the conversion so the audio ends up out of sync with the video when burned to a DVD.

Never tried Nero 3, so it might work. If it doesn't try winavi, that always works for me.

you may get carry of this methodology "WINavi" which will make it easier to substitute the seven-hundred mb avi action picture record to DVD format. as quickly because it somewhat is switched over, you will discover 2 folders "audio_ts" and "video_ts" interior the holiday spot folder u chosen for the conversion. So after that open nero and prefer to burn a "dvd video" and drag those 2 folders as they are to burn them on a sparkling dvd and viola, you would be waiting to visual reveal unit that action picture in a dvd participant!
