We all have those moment from movies that we just can't forget. Name me one of yours!
For instance, there is a scene in "Farewell, My Concubine" (starring Leslie Cheung and Gong Li) that has never left me. The film is about two Peking opera singers whose careers are interrupted by the Cultural Revolution. Cheung's character is in love with his (male) friend, though his friend isn't aware of this. There is a scene in which various actors and other entertainers are rounded up and humiliated by the People's Army by being forced to dress in their costumes and parade down the street. As the actors hurriedly put on sloppy, mocking versions of their stage makeup, Cheung (looking perfect exquisite, as he always does when in costume), approaches his friend, takes the makeup brush, and carefully applies his friend's makeup. As this is an established ritual between them, it is a very touching, tragic sort of moment.
