and if not, any (at least kinda good) movies about a band/a singer/a song/ stuff like that will do just fine, only please specify what it is about

Spinal Tap is p*ss funny! If you like "referencing" you probably get a kick out of Velvet Goldmine. It's not a great film but it's fun to spot all the references to music and bands (I also enjoyed chasing Ewen McGregor's wondering accent!). It's not the same sort of thing but you'll like The Rocky Horror Picture Show if you've not seen it, it's for fans of sex 'n' horror films 'n' rock 'n' roll. I only seem to be able to recommend comedies! There are probably a million more but I'm too tired to think straight!

Oh yeah watch The Wall!

I am also gonna go with Rock Star and School of Rock. Two very funny and good movies. Oh yeah Singles made by same guy that did Almost Famous. Funny.

Rock star is pretty damn good, with Mark Wahlberg (sp?) and Jennifer Aniston, Empire Records is a bit more behind the scenes at a record shop, but there's lots of great 80's rock and soft rock. That thing you do is great, too, although not exactly hard-core.

Try La Bamba, the story of Richie Valens. Tragically he died at the age of 17 in the same plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper. The song 'American Pie by Don McClean was a tribute to them.

This is Spinal Tap... it's a mockumentary about a fake british band going on tour to promote a new album. It's absolutely hilarious and probably more true than any other film you'll see.

I agree with the others that "Rock Star" is definitely a must-see for you.
