My daughter went into the 6th grade this year and she decided she wanted to be in the orchestra and play Violin which I support 110%... My delima is this.. Now after getting me all excited about her learning the violin she came home today to say that she wants to join the band and play the trombone. Well I do not want to push her into anything and I want it to be her decision but to be honest I would rather her learn the violin. What should I do? I just think that the violin would be a better choice because of all the doors that it could open for her but as I said I do not want to push her into anything.

I need some good old music. Not sure how to explain it. Kind of country. Things like Battle of 1814, Cotton Eyed Joe (i know that is not old - but has the old time sound i am looking for) Sweet Home Alabama (same as Cotton), Sinking of the Bismark. That old time sound. Can't think of others to explain but am hoping some of you will know what i mean. So do you know of any songs with this kind of sound?
