For example, is the Master's Plan I the "former" or Master's Plan II?

In consultation with their advisors, students can elect either Master’s Plan I (thesis) or Master’s Plan II (comprehensive exam). It is expected that most students will choose the former.

What are the advantages of writing in first person versus third person? What about the disadvantages? When is thrid person better? When is first person better?

Don't worry- this isn't a school assignment. I have a story in my head but I can't decide whether to make it third person or first person. If it makes any difference, it's a love story. And don't criticize me for that. lol

I have to write and essay and I need some help. THe Essay Topic is : "What does Pearl symbolize, and where and how does Hawthorne develop her symbolism?"

I'm kind of stuck. I have come up with 3 possible symbols:

She either stands for the Scarlet Letter, Sin, or Punishment for Hester's Sin.

Now I need your opinions, Which one do you agree with, and if you could please give some examples for whichever you choose. You don't need to be exact, you can just paraphrase.

Thanks for everything.
