I have a schedule that I created that helps plan various aspects of projects. Each project has a color assigned to it, and there may be multiple items on the schedule for each project. Each item on the schedule is represented by a label control, and I am setting the background and foreground colors on those labels. I have two color related questions I would appreciate assistance with.

1. I would like the label forecolor to always be black or white. I need some method for determining when a label's background color is dark enough that a white foreground (text) would be more visible than if the forecolor was black, or vice-versa.

2. If I can't find a good solution to item #1, then I would like some method for limiting the items background colors to only colors "light" enough to look ok with black text. I have tried to use luminesence, but colors with a high luminesence and a high saturation still sometimes look poorly with black text.

I was wondering what programming language is good for automating responses to a web survey. This survey site gives out short and long surveys. I would like to write a program that can recognize when a short or long survey is given and then automate the responses to the survey.

I have a MS database that I need to migrate from the US to Belfast, Ireland. Before migrating the database I want to test some of my time check procedures to see if they will work when being used in a European time format. For example I test all files that are loaded into the database to see if they are older than 3 hours. I also test if the file is older than one day.

Should I just change my time in my computer settings to a European format to determine if my code will work. What are your suggestions ?

I m 25, looking for a career change to software, from Lecturer in technical college for the past 5 years. I get conflicting guidance from my friends as well lot of online well wishers. One of father friend's son, who works as HR manager for MNC said I m too old to get into software industry, may be i may try my luck in software training, thats the only possibility. But my friend who worked in number of jobs, sales, marketting, production... you name it, all these 5 years, learned JAVA just 4 months ago, shifted to software company and gets a good pay, he even put a fake experience, he infact works in the same company as that HR manager, but in different state. Now i wonder what is the reality of software industry. Now to ask you
1. Am I too old to get into or look for career change?
2. Will I able to successful career in software?
3. Which area of software should i think for entry to software... Software Testing or JAVA or ASP.NET or mainframe or Oracle?

Im trying to follow this "HowTo" http://lifehacker.com/software/feature/geek-to-live--how-to-set-up-a-personal-home-web-server-124212.php And i got to step #2 so i can acses my music but i cant figur out step #3 i get lost trying to set up the pasword. If anyone knows anythig that might help me figur this out that would be graet. Just doing for the fun of it miht try to figur out how to host a web page on it wusing MS Word. I'm a little bit familiar with web design, I once built an online store using zencart, so I at least have a little experience. But when it actually comes to developing a website I'm really out of the loop, and only know just a few basic html commands. I'm wondering if anyone knows any real good programs for building a website without needing to know much html. Preferrably free, but would also like to know about non free ones.

I'm wanting to build humor, news, etc site similar to ebaumsworld.com, collegehumor.com, and similar ones. So any advice on the best way to do it would be nice.

It would be nice if there was a script that works similar to the zencart script, where you basically upload and install it on the server. So that once you get the basic layout, adding, deleting, rearranging, and archiving, content and extra pages is super easy.

Ok,here's what I'm trying to do.I want to make a sheet of the same paragraph,so I can print it off,and cut out the paragraphs.How do I copy one paragraph to make a sheet of them without writing out all the paragraphs individually.Hope you're not too confused.

I have used yahoo site builder and love it but I am not able to do php or do not know how to in site builder.
