doesn't have a job ( he's only a yr old ) I can't buy an IRA. I have heard stories that if you invested $ 1000.00 when you are young you would have several thousand when you're ready to retire..what do I invest it in...other options other than a 529 for college??? any advice appreciated...Thanks

My wife has 401K with about 1,000 dollars vested balance
Just started a new job with no 401K option. Can she open an IRA to transfer the money to? I don't want to leave such a small amount in the old account. What are my options to do with this money?

I used to fight MMA and just bought a couple hundred shares when it hit a buck. I realized that everyone that bought in >$10 was crazy but it seems like the company could do well - if they remain solvent.

I am not basing my retirement on this one but I am just curious what other independent people think of this one now its a .5/share stock.

I'm just curious..... My husband and I are investing 20% of our income to a 403 retirement plan. We are in our late 20's early 30's. So my question is.... When it comes time to retire, Will the amount of our investment effect wether or not we will be able to collect social security benefits....

I know there's the chance that there won't be any social security benefits at that time, but that's a whole other issue.

We own a stock that is sinking fast down to $5.25 from a high of $16.00 We are going to ride it out but the question is what happens when a stock hits zero? Is the company forced into bankruptcy? Is the stock then deemed worthless?

Shorting a put option seems counter-intuitive to me. If you short something you hope the value falls so that you can replace it at a lower cost. A put option gives you the option to sell at a certain price if it falls. How then would shorting a put option work?
