Fashion & Accessories - July 2006

I buy a gown from the thrift store every year for prom, and usually end up altering the gown in some way to make it fit my body type and taste better. This year, I've been thinking about maybe making my own dress from scratch. I'm open to anything, and was wondering if anyone knew of a good pattern, or had a suggestion for what fabrics or construction techniques I should try. THANKS!

I have an engagement party to go to this evening, and I have a few questions to ask...
1. I want to wear either a chocolate brown to the knee dress that is dressy casual...or a navy blue and white polka dot dress to the knee that is dressy casual...Which would you go with?
2. Depending on the dress, which colors shoes and accessories would you wear with each?
3. The choc brown dress, if I wear that one, is stretchy but a slight bit tight across my hips...Is there anything I can wear underneath the dress to camo my hips??

I just bought this really cute pair of clogs. They are platform and jeweled on a khaki colored fabric. I am completely at a loss on what type of pant, capri, crop, etc to ear them with. Could someone with some class please help me. Keep in mind I am 34, 5'2 and have a small frame (in case that matters). Thank you.

Ok this one has been bugging me forever! I have been out with enough girly girls to know that they will spend thousands of dollers on clothes just because of a name on the clothes. Who chooses what names should sell a pair of 300 doller jeans (mine cost $25) and what will become the next buyway bargin. Most designer clothes are not very original and still seem too sell like crasy, it does not make sense. One day Gucci will Sh!t in a can and sell it to the puplic and people will probibly but it. Help people, I need to know. Why do you give a sh!t if the clothes have a little LV on the side???
