What is it live? I have only drvien through it once. I hear its beutiful, but i also hear it is very un safe. How does it compare to Sydney in terms of crime and traffic?

I am considering leaving nelson for work there, but I don't want to move to there if it is like sydney. I left the westurn suburbs of sydney for nelson and have not looked back.

What are the rich and the not so good suburbs of christchurch.

I am going on the trip of a lifetime to New Zealand in eleven weeks time.
I will be there for a minimum of three months.

However I would like to do some work experience/voluntary whilst I am over there.

However I wonder if my age might go against me? I am 39 now but will be 40 in January. And will be spending my 40th birthday in N Z. That's one of the main reasons for going.

I want to take my time whilst over there hence the reason why I want to do voluntary.

Would like some serious advice on the above.

Any help appreciated?

I am considering moving to New Zealand for a short period of time and would like to work while i'm there. Being from a visa waiver country will i have to apply for a work permit visa so i can work there or this kind of scheme will allow me to get a job without a work visa?

I'm trying to track down the word 'pitika', to describe a traditional nose kiss on the Polynesian island of Anuta. 'Honi' seems to be the usual word, but a friend who went to Anuta said he thought the word was 'pitika'. Has anyone else heard of this in the Pacific islands?
