Is New Zealand part of Australia?

Well I know the answer, but it seems a lot of the worlds people (particularily Americans)seem to think NZ is part of Australia ...........Why?

i suppose they are uneducated,a little bit like thinking america and canada are one country,because they are close.

That's sooo stupid!

Everyone knows theres no such place as Australia. That was the place that Dorothy and Toto visited in that movie.
