It's a question in my Math textbook.I'm practising the questions inside for revision, and my brain just isn't working...I've been doing Math questions for a few hours already...
Could someone show me the steps so I can understand the way to solve it?

Thanks for any help. :)

1. Statistically, the chance of being on a plane with TWO bombs is much less than being on a plane with ONE bomb. OK, both are pretty small probabilities, but surely it would be safer to take your own bomb on board a plane just to reduce the chance of another bomb being on board!!!

2. It is safer to drive at 100mph in a 30mph zone - statistically, hardly anyone crashes at 100mph, but loads at 30mph!

Have you any more?

A. Kendra: "If the price of caffeinated soft drinks such as Mountain Dew went down, then consumer demand for coffee would go down since they're substitutes for each other."

B. Nicholas: "If Brazil is hit hard by such a severe freeze that half of its crop is wiped out, then the price of coffee will probably rise."

C. Sergei: "If the demand for coffee were to increase, then I would expect the price to rise, which would then cause the demand to fall back down to its original level."

D. Tasha: "If coffee drinkers expect the price of coffee to

i'm behind in math (homeschooling) and need to catch up. I want to do an average of a few lessons a day, which requires a lot of motivation. i'm not too motivated in the math department because i've had trouble in the past (bad cycle, i need to stop). once i've been taught a concept by a competent teacher, i'm very good which leads me to believe that i have a natural talent for math. for instance, i can do multi-digit multiplication in my head, along with simple algebra. i'm also much more logical (personality trait that hints at mathematical talent) in everyday encounters, as opposed to a "feeler" like most women.. but i still procrastinate math.. i put it off like the plague. i'm almost afraid of it. it's sad because once i start doing it, i can find myself enjoying the simplicity and rawness of it all.. and usefulness and practicality. but this isn't enough to get me going!! what do i do? please don't suggest something like a rewards system or w/e.. won't work with me.

I'm working on a different approach, but some help would be nice, a straight answer would be even better :-)

How do you solve a problem of this type? The best way I can explain is with an example:

A researcher plants 22 seedlings. After one month, independent of the other seedlings, each seedling has a probabilty of .08 of being dead, a probability of .19 of exhibiting slow growth, a probability of .42 of exhibiting medium growth, and a probability of .31 of exhibiting strong growth.

Calculate the probability that after one month:
a)Exactly three seedlings are dead, exactly four exhibit slow growth and exactly six exhibit medium growth.
b)Exactly five seedlings are dead, exactly five exhibit slow growth, and exactly seven exhibit strong growth.
c)No more than two seedlings are dead.

Please don't just give me the answer (this isn't the problem on my assignment so that won't do me any good), I need an explanation on how to solve - thanks in advance!

2) Find the derivative of f(x) = (6x^3 - x)(10 - 20x)

3)Find the derivative of the function f(x) = (x^2 +1)^3

Does anyone know how to help me with these three stat problems?thanks.
