Since 400 m represents 16 laps (400/25) and 9 minutes represents 540 seconds (9x60), you would need to AVERAGE 540/16=33.75 seconds per lap to complete this swim in the allotted time.

Well, I will help you, but I wont give you the answer.
If you swim 400m in 9 min, in how long would you swim 200m?
You see that in order to find this, you have to divide the time by 2 because you have divided the distances by 2. Seems quite logical. It is the same idea to get the time for your 25m lap. Though you will need to use the rule of three.
Rule of three : ie 1 m = 100 cm how many meters are 52cm?
so you use the rule of three 1m/100cm = ?m/52cm
so you multiply 1 * 52 then you divide it by one hundred and you get the answer 0.52m.
Good luck

400m i.e u will hv to complete 400/25=8 laps
so ur speed should not be less than (8/9) laps per minute
or, for each lap u cant not give time more than 9*60/8=67.5seconds if u wanna win the swim compedition.

33.75 sec. However, you cannot swim each lap at the same speed. Usually you swim coach will teach you how to sprint the last 25 m.

hmm..lemme see
400m = D
9minute = T
25m = L
T*60/D*L = distance one lap in seconds.
