What is the best/reasonably inexpensive way to buy chess books ?

I have been playing chess for about a year. My coach has recommended close to 10 books. There are also a bunch of nice-to-have books and DVDs and the costs build up pretty quickly. I don't want to buy all used.
Any good sites ?

Forced Jumping in Checkers?

Is there a way to turn off the forced jumping in Checkers. Half of the challenge is to see when you can jump and take the opporutnity, but in Yahoo! Checkers, it forces a jump if one is available... This sucks! Help!!

I tried changing the screen resolution and I clicked on settings and moved the arrow up a little. This reduce

reduces my desktop icons, etc. What else should I do? I do not want my desktop icons, etc. reduced. But I would like to be able to play Literati and be able to see the large board with larger letters. I am only able to get the small board and for a 79 year olds eyes they are almost too small. On the large board I cannot read the letters I am supposed to play with and cannot type anything to my opponent. Please help!!!!!
