1500 dollars. 2 500's, 2 100;s, 2 50;s, 6 20's, 5 10's, 5 5's, 5 1's but you don;t have to i usaually start out wih a random amout and some properties it makes the game go quicker so you don't play for 5 days straight

It is mentioned in the rule book that comes with the game. I collect the game & without going to check I believe some versions vary as they try to add realism to it. Rule of thumb the more money you start with then the longer the game goes. Less money, shorter game.
