They have lost me, and after 34yrs of watching I can truely say there are no sane characters left, no great families or dignity to the soap. The chacters of Kay and Victor are all that are left untouched. They made the rest psycho, or fired them. Its a bunch of tweenies now and bed musical chairs weekly.

Hi, I'm trying to track down the name of a TV series from the 80's. All i rememeber is that the credits opened up with this flashback of the main character being locked up in a cupboard as a child. The series revolved around him as a grown up, having become immensly wealthly. Each episode generaly revolved around him being an absolute b*******d to everyone he got involved with.

The only hint/thing i rember is that the series hada word word title (i think)

The funniest act in America's Got Talent New York is when that Native Man who dance and scream in his own language that he invents, the black comedian guy, and that freaky blond black girl with her guitar, she screams like crazy.

Being English myself, I have come to despair to the shite that is on television today. I love older shows, particular comedy, but now all programmes are either reality or cartoons. Occasionally, strokes of genius are present (The Office, Extras, New Tricks, Waking the dead, LIFE ON MARS), but the tripe that is on most nights makes me wonder why I bother with a television license at all. To other English, are you despairing like I, or are you satisfied with the programmes, and to everyone else, whats your opinion of your country's tevelsion programmes at the moment?

I have seen both "The Office" and "Extras" and, being English, loved the way they were brilliantly crafted. However, having watched all the extra features, I have seen that Steve Merchant is way more of a comedian than Gervais. While Gervais is a fine actor, he appears to take the writing and filming as a joke "Taping Nigel 2: The Gimpening".... So, who prefers Steve Merchant's sharp wit, to Gervais's nutcase comedy?

I watched this show on PBS. (?late 70's/80's?) his first name was David and would sit with a glass of some kind of liquor. also he was missing a finger or two. I really enjoyed his brand of humor. Any help would be appreciated
