NEW YORK — Meredith Vieira says she doesn't watch The View now that she's poised to become the co-anchor of NBC's Today show on Sept. 13.

"I needed to think ahead," she said in an interview published in Time magazine on Sunday. "But I have to admit, the day after Star made her announcement, I watched. I feel very sad for everything that's happened and for everybody involved."

Vieira, who was The View moderator for nine years, said she was proud of her work at the popular daytime talk show and feels it has taken a turn for the worse.

"It's hard to watch. It sort of became a joke," she told the magazine.

Though she turned down a job on CBS's Early Show in 2002, Vieira said, she couldn't turn her back on the opportunity to co-host the Today show.

There was a special on the TV Guide channel about why good and highly acclaimed shows got cancelled with a cliffhanger. Take Surface and Invasion for an example. They both ended with a cliffhanger. Both shows got high ratings. But before their season ended with the network announcement of a new fall schedule, in commericals it was a season finale, when in reality, it's series finale. And those shows ended with a cliffhanger. If a show gets a pink slip before May like in April for taping, it should end with closure, not a cliffhanger. It's misleading and false advertising in a way. Take Commander in Chief. It started off well and tanked after a break, due to a new day and time. Its ending the series with a TV Movie. Deadwood after 3 yrs is doing 2 TV movies. So kudos to them. The only exception is 7th Heaven. It ended on the WB as a series finale; but one week after it ended, it was picked up by CW with 13 episodes. No series finale, but season finale. Sabrina was another one. Opines?

who is your favorite remaining player this season & why?

i would say mine is will bc he's so cute & laid back. next to will, i would pick george, he's just a likeable normal guy i guess. i don't have any strong opinion toward any of the others really, except erika: just something i don't like about her.

Apparently he left a note behind for her to find, but I can't figure out what it is from reading anything online! Can someone please help!
