I mean, to the Chinese people, as Stallone's "Rocky" was to (some of) us Americans? He has starred in MANY superb martial arts/historical films, most notably the "Once Upon a Time in China" series" and subsequent martial arts films here and in China. He is MUCH more cool and handsome than Stallone! Why shouldn't he get a statue...thought he's not even old or "brain-damaged", as the "Rocky" series eventually says about the latter?!

Also, he was able to transition to many mainstream, Western films, which were NOT bombs, unlike Stallone! The guy just ROCKS!
