“Oh, no you don’t,” the man said. He grabbed him and shoved him into the basement.

Don gasped as the man walked down the stairs and grabbed Don’s arm. “A little insurance, Jake, so you don’t try and escape again,” he replied. He held up the knife, and it glistered in the sunlight…

“No!” Don yelled flinging himself against the wall as the man started to cut one of his fingers. “No, no! Let me go! STOP!! Please don’t’! I’m not Jake! Stop!!!!” he yelled and yanked it away as the man made a cut. A trail of blood hung down...

Sunlight glistered from window, what should happen after "a trail of blood hung down..."

i just read a book on World War II on how the young men been sending off of war before France surrendered. Aren't we consider blessed at least we can choose what we want to do in this time of peace?
