My friend called me last year and she wanted to go with me to see him again..well every time we check..he's ONLY playing in DUBLIN IRELAND-KILLARNEY,IRELAND-CASTLEBAR,IRELAND-ALBERTA CANADA-ONTARIO??? HE has about 3 shows in this country

I think the song was more of a funny song. I think it had references to a store, and possibly the daughter of the owner.

The best "poet of the common man" ever, Hag's lyrics are real, and heartbreaking. Poetic, yet plain. It is common nowadays for songwriters to write sad songs, but they are insincere and ridiculous for the most part. Especially when delivered by some disingenuous, tone-deaf hack like Tim McGraw or Kenny Chesney. Merle Haggard should be able to write his own ticket in the country music world, yet sadly, he is all but ignored by the Nashville establishment.

I love to hear "I'll Fly Away" with it's old-time country gospel rhythm. So many of the songs at our church are those new things that just repeat, repeat, repeat. No harmony and not much soul. What's one of your favorites?

It's a love song and I think it's something like let it rain, or wiching for rain, or waiting for rain. It's sung by a woman. I heard it on the radio a couple days ago and didn't hear who it was by and haven't heard it since.

Social Distortion and Tiger Army in the punk world have both put out great country songs. Mike Ness of Social D even put out some great solo stuff that was more country than anything else.
Who would you like to see do the same?
