In the beginning of Superman Returns, there was a strange crash in on the Kent Farm. When Martha Kent went out to investigate the crash, she saw a spiky, star looking thing, much like the pod that Kal-El was transported in from Krypton in the first Superman. Can someone explain to me what that thing was and why Superman passed out?

Ok... I understand it's not Christopher Reeves and didn't incorporate the story lines from Lois and Clark or Smallville. So what? Xmen: the Last Stand didn't follow it's televison serieses either.. I'm just a little confused since I thought it was a very entertaining movie and the characters were well cast. It was better than I expected, unlike the other blockbusters (Da Vinci Code and Click).

Since the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie comes out Friday, I'd really like to know the words to that song. It's the one that Elizabeth sings in the beginning, Jack and Elizabeth sing when they are stuck on that island (before she burns all the rum), and then Jack is singing it at the end of the movie. Anyone know?
