Damn good question!
Thanks for asking!
I had to read everyone elses' comments to get some pretty clever ideas.

AND, this includes people on airplanes, too!

I've done what several others do: politely ask them to stop.
When they don't I get up, get a movie manager (or flight attendant) and have them face down the problem.
In the movie, if I've missed a lot, I'll also ask for a refund.

The biggest problem kickers, at least on airplanes, are adults.
The damn seats are so small and many Americans are FAT.
I can excuse a few bumps, but persistent kicks really make me mad.
(really!)

Tell them since they seem to be uncomfortable, you'll give them your seat. Then bump and kick their seat when you switch and just say "man you're right - this seat is uncomfortable."

If asking person to stop doesn't work...go ask for a ticket to the next movie because a jerk is behind you and you can't enjoy the showing you are in. If they want you to show them the jerk ...politely do so.

turn around and say will u please stop that kicking and if they continue tell them it's really rude and grab their food and drinks and dump it all out and tell them that other people are trying to enjoy the movie, and if that doesn't work wait until the movie gets out wait for the kicker and then take them aside and tell them what u think of them and do whatever u wish...they deserve it.

Turn around, look straight at this person, point your fore finger at them at them and say "stop kicking my seat, right now" with the sternest voice you can muster.

Tell the person next to you, in a loud voice, I don't think prison worked... I still feel the need TO KILL. The person should stop if they hear.
