I apologise to all the purists on here as this isn't a question?

After an upset within the family recently, we have finally come to an agreement and settled our differences. I watched Jeremy Kyle this morning and wanted to say a BIG thank you to him and his guests. They made me so grateful for my education and made my family one that The Waltons should aspire to be like!

Was baptism designed to induce a near-death experience?

I read somewhere that originally, baptism was designed to hold the person under water long enough that they thought they were going to die and would see God. Sort of like water-boarding, only the idea was to have a mystical experience. What do you think?
