I know the point of Red Nose/Comic relief is to raise money for charity but could someone please tell me they are doing it for laughs and are not trying to show real talent!

I'm talking about little white lies, such as, "Sorry I'm late, boss. . .traffic!", or "of COURSE I don't mind if you sit there". Not major ones like, "why, that's the biggest one I've ever seen!"
