The music industry seems to be in a slump and has been for a while. Pretty much anyone can be popular these days. Boring music videos, 30 different bands that all sound the same, the lyrical content is getting even more ridiculous (in all genres). There's such a lack of creativity now. This is just my opinion, but what are yours? What do you think is wrong with the music scene and how do you think it can be fixed?

I went from prog rock bands like Genesis, Yes, King Crimson etc. But frankly there isn't any point in trying to better them. So I've moved on through Robert Fripp, David Sylvian and now Derek Bailey, Bailey is very intriguing though perhaps a little too off the beaten track for me. Can someone suggest somewhere in between?
