IMAX is on a much larger screen with a greater sound quality, it is usually more expensive, the ones here are 13.00 were as the regular movies are about 8-9 dollars

The IMAX screen is about six times larger than a standard theater screen, ie, about two stories tall---The film used in the IMAX format is also proportionately large, so the images are usually amazingly crisp and clear---sound is multi-channel, from speakers all over the theater. Seating is in raised tiers, so everyone can see all the screen without other viewers in the way. Although regular movies can be blown up to IMAX size, quality can be variable at these showings, but films made specifically for IMAX can be breathtaking--and the IMAX 3-D experience, using a semi-helmet viewer, is superior to other 3-D presentations.
I recommend the experience---It can be memorable.

IMAX can feel like an amusement ride if there is a lot of movement in the film. I think the film needs to be made especially for IMAX. There are some, they are usually 30 - 45 mins in length and know how to play to this medium.

I saw Harry Potter on IMAX and it was annoying. I also saw a movie about horse racing and thought the IMAX added no value what so ever.

We have an Imax in our town, and the cost is only slightly higher than a regular theater. The sound is awesome, the picture is great. One piece of advice, though. I went and saw XMen 3 on ours, and I sat in the front row. That wasn't a great idea because the screen is so large I kept finding myself having to almost move my head from side to side to catch the dialogue or anything interesting. Sit a bit further back would be my advice, otherwise it's an awesome time!

it's a couple bucks more i think. the only movie i saw at the IMAX was in 3-D. I'm not a huge fan of the 3-D stuff but i've heard 2-D movies are awesome

The picture and sound are alot better and seating is more comfortable, would highly recommend. If you are going out to watch on big screen, why not watch on the best, who cares if it cost a little more?

It is great.

Bigger screen, better sound.

The one I went to wasn't really more expensive, like $1-2 more.
