On American Idol, why do the contestants all sing songs from 20-50 years ago. What's the deal? Or is it the producers making them do it? I am so tired of hearing all the same songs every single season by all the same tired artists. Seriously, what is the deal? Can someone explain this to me?

In just about all commercials, except for the AutoZone commercials, for the past several years straight, all I've ever seen is that when the guy is in a commercial, they make him look like a dope, and when the woman is in a commercial, they make her look smart and brisk. Why is this? Not ALL guys are dopes and not ALL women are smart and brisk like in that Mr. Clean, Swifer dust mop, and Plug it in Plug it in commercials. There are guys that are as smart and clever like the women in the commercials.

I've got this quote going through my head, it's from a movie or tv show, I think. It's one female talking to another, but I can't decipher the voices. It starts, "I'm nervous, I'm excited." and then says "I'm ____" or "It's like _____" or something like that, I can't remember. It's driving me nuts!
