When the land “up North” was looking for a name, they just couldn’t get all of the politicians to agree. Unlike their aggressive neighbours to the South, they wanted to find something on which all their citizens, from many diverse cultures, would agree. They wanted a short name that would be easily remembered (like “USA”).
So after seventy votes, it became clear that three groups emerged. Finally they agreed that each would submit a letter, and then they would figure out what the letters stood for.
The first politician stood up and said “C” The minister repeated, “C”, eh? The second contributed “N”. The minister said “N”, eh? The third shouted out “D” and the minister confirmed “D”, eh?
The clerk then repeated what he had written down: “C-A-N-A-D-A"...
