does anyone know how much mountaineering guides make?

It depends greatly on where you are guiding and your experience level.

I honestly can't give you a ballpark figure because it varies greatly. It's not a job you will get rich doing. You'll be lucky to pay your bills unless you have a relatively debt free life already.

When I guided...like nine years ago...I made roughly $800 a month plus room and board. It was not "High Altitude" mountaineering. My guess is some of those guys might have made about $1200 a month...maybe a bit more if it was a big expedition.

Not a lot, unless you own your own company. I knew guides that lived our of their cars. Some guide services are better than others (Rainier Mountaineering pays there guides a decent wage, I think).
