I'm guessing it would be Iceberg, but personally I prefer Spring Greens or a combo of Spinach and Butter Lettuce when I make salads at home. More flavor and nutrition that way!

Iceberg is the most common, but it has very little nutritional value to it. Romaine is probably the next most popular, and definitely better for you, with still a nice crunch. The darker the lettuce, the more vitamins it has, so that's good to keep in mind if you're trying to eat healthier...try different greens, like arugula, red or green leaf, mixed field greens...good to have a variety and they're all delicious!

Romain -- I include the country of China where that is the most common type there... their population is far larger and they eat a lot more vegetables than N. America, so that would send iceberg down the list for sure.

It depends on where you are. In the U.S. I would agree that it is iceberg. In other countries in Europe and the Mediterranean, I think Romaine or Cos lettuce is more common maybe because it is easier to grow.

Iceberg lettuce, but I prefer Bibb, Romaine, Boston, and Red Sails.

Iceberg...not all nutritious and mostly made up of water. Romaine and darker leafed lettuce are far healthier for you.
