i am 16 years old and am fairly slim. I have quite a balanced diet but am supposidly drinking too much water according to my mum. I have a drink and then 10 mins later i need the loo and then im thirsty again it doesn't stop. My mouth is also generally dry and get tired quite easily. I have sight problems (is this linked?) and can get moody with people over really small things (this however may just be me being a teenager) do these signs suggest diabetes? i didn't think that i was drinking too much water how much is too much? thanks.

You can buy diabeties self testing kits in Tesco (I'm making an assumption you're from the UK as you said Mum).

You pee into a container and dip a stick in. Wait a minute or two and it tells you if you are diabetic. You need to confirm any positive result with a doctor.

They cost about £4 for 3 strips.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/vhPA3

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

I don't know who gave FishStory a thumbs down, but she is precisely right. It just goes to show how little some people know about a subject that they're answering questions on.

I will also add to FishStory's response that the blood sugar tests that you take at Lloyds chemist also do not definitively say that you have diabetes. They simply indicate that your blood sugar level is higher than normal. If this is the case, you will always be told to see your GP for further testing before a correct diagnosis can be made.

You seem to be showing symptoms that I, and many others have had before diagnosis of Diabetes. Diabetes doesn't occur from eating to much. It can occur from that, but sometimes it happens if your parents, or your grandparents had Type 1 Diabetes. You should go to the doctor and have a blood panel done. They should test for (1) Diabetes, and (2) Lukemia. If you turn out to have diabetes you can e-mail me by clicking on my profile picture and selecting the E-mail ME!!! button. I will pray for you. Merry Christmas! :D

You may be a diabetic but see your health care provider to be certain, being thirsty all the time and blurred vision is a good indication of diabetes. But don't worry maybe type 2 which is pill taking and good luck.

My partner and my dad are diabetic. Continued thirst and weight loss is a clear sign. When my partners blood sugars are low he can be very moody.
Go to the doctor a simple blood test will measure your blood sugar levels and identify if you are. There are two types of diabetes, insulin (pancreas doesn't not work to convert sugar to energy) and tablet controlled (doesn't work very good).
Either way do not worry just have the blood test asap and put your mind at rest. Diabetic support is great.

People with diabetes are thirsty and do have trouble with their eye sight, but this is normally over a period of time. The only way to know for sure is to go to the doctors, or if you have a Lloyds chemist near you (UK), they do a diabetes test for free. i am not sure if you need to be 16 or 18 to have it done though. good luck.

If you can drink a pint of water quickly and then drink another one straight after I'd say something might be wrong. How long have you had these symptoms? You can get problems with vision, usually a blurring of vision. See your GP for a blood test and urine test just to make sure.

my mum is diabetic

the doctor has to do tests on you.. if you have no energy and being thirsty are 2 signs

eating a lot of salt and sugar that don't help, if you crave sugar thats a sign also.

going to the loo a lot , because you drink so much water. might be the sign of a weak bladder..

I would go to ya gp.. they can do the tests =)
