Margerine isn't friendly to anyone it's closer to being a plastic than it is a food. Never for any reason eat margerine.

Some are, some aren't. You will have to check the label for a list of ingredients. Earth Balance is vegan, but is rather expensive. Blue Bonnet light (only) is vegan and costs less. One word to keep an eye out for is casein---that's milk. Some of the others have mentioned that margarine contains ingredients that aren't very healthy and they're right so it's best used in small amounts. I've started using olive oil and fruit/nut butters in it's place more frequently.

I did see a news report the other day that stated margarine in tubs are healthier than the sticks. I have a problem with the tubs because they usually aren't recyclable.

Most brands of margarine contain whey (a milk product), so you need to check labels very carefully to ensure it's vegan. In the UK, Pure is the most commonly available vegan brand. If it's for bakng, Trex is also OK.

if its 100% vegetable margerine then yes..however just because its vegan friendly doesn't make it health friendly.Look for Margerines made without hydrogynated oils which although being vegan are super bad for you.

Please read the lable, if it is 100 % vegetable oil it is vegan friendly. there is NO milk in margarine. Look for cholesteral friendly margarine however as hydrogination is very bad for you. The Best thing to put on bread is olive oil.
