Can You Catch An STD Through Anal Sex Even If You Or Your Partner Does Not Have An STD?

I'm just a bit confused, can someone clear this up for me? I have been reading about anal sex online and it says to always wear a condom to make sure your safe from STD's during anal sex. Is it just in-case your partner has an STD, or is it because and STD can develop through anal sex even if nether person has an STD?¿?¿?¿?

There are infections that are not STDs that can be contracted during anal sex.

The one I'm thinking of in particular is shigellosis. It is caused by a HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS bacterium called Shigella flexneri (there are other species that can make people sick, but this one is a common culprit during anal sex). When you have Shigella, you get acute diarrhea, sometimes bloody diarrhea, feverls, cramping, nausea and sometimes vomiting. It's a really unpleasant sickness.

Shigella is spread fecally-orally. While you hands could look clean, it only takes a microscopic dab (as few as ten bacteria cells) to make you sick. It's important to use a condom to make clean-up nice and simple.

Also, using a condom plus extra lube is much better because it does a lot to ease the friction during penetration. Unprotected anal sex can cause tearing and pain and may increase risk of infections and even hemorrhoids.

One partner has to have an STD in order for the other to catch one. Problem is you never know who has an STD and who does. Always use protection its the only way. Let me tell you antoher thing. Herpes can be caught even wearing a condom. Make sure you konw your partner well. Be safe.
