Evangelical Protestants and Catholics often start up Christian rock bands. Are there Mormon bands like that? Do they have CDs?

I did not know that Gladys Knight is Mormon! Did she convert fairly recently?

First, there are several mainstream band members that are Mormon.
The lead singers of The Killers and Panic at the Disco and The Jets stand out.

As far as a Mormon "Christian rock" culture, we do lag a bit behind other faiths. The best list I can find is here:

Good luck!

Rock bands incorporate The Used, The pink Bennies, Cornwall Chee, and The Rodeo Boys. different communities which at the instant are not in all probability rock incorporate Diamond Rio, this is united states of america, yet quite solid. Dishwalla is decision. Jericho street is almost father, yet solid. Gladys Knight is pop, rock, r&b, and soul. Gregg Hale performed guitar for the band Spiritualized and he has been engaged on a solo CD. Oh, and we should not ignore Donny Osmond!

As for LDS music, we have some of the best. But it's more Gospel music than Rock. You should try it sometime if you get the chance. Really good stuff...

As for LDS Rock, if I think I understand what you're talking about, we would not ever have a Rock group in any of our religious services. It's against the reverence standard that we believe our meetings should have. But listening to LDS Rock on our own time is something that Mormons lag behind on. But it is growing with the younger generation.

As for Gospel Rock, kind of starting to get there. You can get the CD Joseph:Nashville tribute to the Prophet. It's a CD with a good country music feel to it, and it's serious Gospel Music. You could also try the sound track for 'The Singles Ward'. It has taken some of our hymns and put them to Rock, but it's more of a fun thing rather than actual serious Gospel Rock

Here's a link to some You Tube videos showing some Mormons trying to rock out... just having fun.... singing to music they bought. Some of the music is sarcastic because it was made in jest....

I'm Mormon and there's this band called Jericho Road that I listen to sometimes. They're not exactly a rock band, but more. . .modern, if you know what I mean.
