I have a yeast infection. My symptoms are swelling, itching and burning with little to sometimes no discharge. I took Monostat 1 today and was wondering how long it takes to clear up the itching and burning...i really wish this would go away!

You'll start to feel a little relief in one day then better the next, but use it for 3 or more days.
If you are sexually active, be sure the other does not have any signs or you will continue to pass it back and forth.

Monostat 1 takes around a week to work. It's a one day treatment and you will certainly start feeling better after the first day.

However, it will take about 7 days before you feel normal again. The advantage of Monostat 1 is that you only need to take it for one day.

Have you thought about natural remedies? They tend to cure the infection faster when implemented properly. You can find some listed on the site below.

Best of luck.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

yeast in the dry instant state comes 3 packets to a strip. fresh yeast is in the refrigerator case and is purchased one little block at a time. One of these is equal and works the same as the dry yeast. If you buy the strip of dry yeast packets, put the 2 extras in a ziplock bag, press out air, and put in freezer until you are ready to try making bread or whatever again. I buy yeast by the one pound bag, it comes 3 one pound bags to a package at Sams so I put the extra in the freezer until it is needed (it is sealed) and the opened bag in a jar with air tight lid and store this in the freezer between uses. It does not need to be defrosted or brought to room temperature. Just be sure the water or milk you dissolve it in is the proper temperature and don't use synthetic sugar stuff. Use real sugar either brown or white or honey. It is needed to feed the yeast which is a bacteria.

In my experience those one day treatments rarley work. They can also be really irritating to the sensitive skin down there. Your symptoms should disappear within a couple days. If they don't, call your gyno and she what he or she thinks you should do. She might want to see you or tell you to re-treat yourself using a 7 day treatment. Generally, women have better results with the 7 day treatments... I know, I know, who wants to treat themselves for 7 days... yuck!

If you're using Monistat 1, it should be 24 hrs. But keep using it until the tube is finished.

3 to 7 days.
If you use local applications, it will clear early.
