"Bors" is a romanian traditional ingredient used for soups like the traditional "Bors de peste/Fish soup". The taste is more like winegar (kind of) and it's made from natural ingredients like corn and bread. Anyone that knows what I'm talking about please tell me what brand or name do I have to look for in order to cook Bors de peste. I heard about borsch here in the U.S. but never paid attention.... thank's guys.
Sper sa-mi raspundeti voi, romanii. Mersi !!

Mamaliga, poate? Imi place si sare male. Dar nu stiu *** sa spune pe englezeste.

I learned to like Romanian cooking way back in the bad old Ceaucescu days. Might try some hominy in the store, see if you like that. I think most any store will carry hominy. I'd try the dry version (like Cream of Wheat) rather than the canned, whole grain variety.

There used to be a terrific Romanian restaurant in Rosslyn, Virginia. The lady was terrific, and I'm sure she'd help you if she could. But if you're anywhere near NYC, you won't have any trouble among the ex-pats there. There's also a smaller, less cohesive community in San Leandro, CA.
