Some have advised me to put lemon juice in, others have said to leave the pit in the avocado dip. Neither tip has worked. Can you help me?

For the people who gave answers without reading all the details: I specifically said that lemon juice and leaving the pit in did not help. You know, you don't HAVE to answer if you don't know it.

mix 2 tbsp of olive oil and 1 tbsp of vinegar together and then stir it in with the avacados. After that, seal it and refrigerate.

I've had both tricks work, but I'm not sure the pit would work in a salad. I think the only reason it works in guacamole is because all of the avocado particles are mashed up and in contact with each other.
I think what you need is a little acid to keep the fruit from oxidizing. If you're going to dress your salad, and have vinegar in the dressing, this should solve the problem for you. If not, a little lemon juice will certainly do the trick (be cautious not to use too much, though, as it will change the flavor of your dish).

Because oxidation is the main cause for the discoloration (it does not affect the taste, just color), the key is to counter this effect. A splash of and acid based fruit will do, but it may slightly change the flavor of your food. Try covering your salad with a plastic wrap. Make sure that the plastic wrap is well secured against the top surface of your salad to limit the amount of oxygen which is allowed to circulate around the avocados. Without oxygen, the avocados will not turn brown.

Lemon juice and garlic powder. Seal tightly and refrigerate after you make it. I would eat it right after I make it. When you add the lemon juice add a lot. Like maybe half a large lemon. That is probably what you are doing wrong, it will not alter the taste but add flavor!

Fruit Fresh (see link) works great-just sprinkle on cut up avocado. It's a crystalline form of ascorbic acid that coats foods better than citrus juice.
