My office is going to a Lebanese restaurant for our Christmas luncheon today and I have no idea what kind of food Lebanese food is! What should I get? I'm more of a meat eater, less of a vegetable eater. Any suggestions?

A sampler platter would be the best choice. Some of my friend's favorites are listed below

Appetizer:
- Humus is a dip made with chickpeas and garlic
- Taziki dip (homemade yogurt with cucumbers, garlic and mint)
- Various homemade cheeses similar to Mozarella
- Calamata olives

Salad
- Tabouli (cracked wheat and parsley with green onions
- Salata (salad with crush garlic lemon and salt dressing)

Main Course/Vegetables
- Stuffed squash (rice ground beef or lamb and spices)
- Rolled cabbage or grape leaves (similar to squash stuffing)
- Kibbee (meatloaf with cracked wheat instead of bread crumbs or crackers)
- Green Beans cooked with garlic onions and tomatoe sauce served over rice (lamb or beef chunks can also be added)

Dessert
- Baklava
- Lebanese ice cream
- Date cookies

Tabouleh (Tabouli) and Kibbeh. Tabouleh is a salad made of fresh cut parsley, minced tomatoes and onions. Mixed with cracked wheat (bulgur wheat) and seasoned with olive oil and lemon juice. Kibbeh is an emulsified paste of the freshest lamb and bulgur wheat.

Baked kibbeh is layered in a pan with its stuffing and drizzled with olive oil, while fried kibbeh is shaped into miniature hollowed out footballs and then stuffed before being fried.

Delicious!!

Most Lebanese restaurants have an appetizer sampler platter called MEZZE: it usually has hummus, baba ghanouj, pita, falafel, tabbouleh...
