You can usually camp freely in National Forests, providing you obtain a campfire permit from the nearest Ranger Station. Since there are no designated sites it could take some time for you to find a good spot in those vast areas. If you had a map you could look for small lakes or rivers where the road ends. Most large lakes would have a pay campground nearby and other camping wouldn't be permitted. Many National Forest roads are only gravel or dirt and might require 4 wheel drive, so you have to call and ask and have a good map.

Similarly, there are many designated "Wilderness Areas" in National Forests and National Parks where camping is free, but almost always you have to backpack on a trail at least a couple miles in order to be away from the trailhead. All wilderness areas require you to obtain free permits from local ranger stations or sometimes they have permits at the trailhead. And of course before you can get a free wilderness permit in a National Park you have to pay the entrance fee.

If you can't afford a campsite you have a problem, because you need permission from whoever _owns_ that land. If it's owned by the government, you need a permit. If it is private land, you need to do a deal with the landowner.

Even if it was your own block of land someplace, you would need to comply with local zoning laws, too. The reason for this is that, just by being there, you will be changing the environment. You will have to eat and poop, and that creates garbage and sewerage which has to be dealt with properly.

You will need water to drink and wash with, so those are resources as well. All of this costs somebody money, or creates damage (for example, chopping firewood).

A long time ago when I was a kid on Scout camps, when I was at boarding school, we would have an arrangement with a farmer to all do a day's work on his property as "payment" for the right to camp in a field.

We would pick beetroots, or turnips or strawberries for the man.

So we took water from a nearby creek and boiled it to drink, and we dug slit trenches for sanitation and filled them in before we left.

The farmer got some cheap (but not very efficient laborers) and we got a great campsite. I must admit we ate a lot of his strawberries! ;-)

Another possibility is to go WWoofering... (Yes, it is spelled WWOOF, that's Willing Workers on Organic Farms).

Try camping on open public land - mostly BLM in the Western US.

Check out the websites for the Forest Service (National Forest land) and National Park Service (National Parks), too.

Most places charge a small fee to camp...if you can afford to drive somewhere, you can afford to pay for a campsite.

You need to find out if the land is private or government
BLM, some State, and some Federal lands you can camp on without a fee.
Some of the State and Federal lands are parks and charge fees
Private land you'll need permission from the owner, and always remember to clean all your trash and extinguish all fires completely. Many private land owners will not allow their property to be used because of past dealings with people who think they can use and abuse, with out any effect. Sure they got away that time, but it puts the land owner on the defensive, and causes them to not allow any one else permission.

you cannot camp on private property, it must be community property, and as long as it is, you can camp anywhere you want. The only reason for a camp site is for the ammenities, such as a bathroom, shower, waterhose, and possibly safety from wild animals. But I dont' see the harm. My husband and I have a place where we like to camp, right next to a lake, and it's legal as long as it's not someone's land.

Most parks charge a fee to camp. Usually around here its about 25 to 50

Ask if you can have camp fires. and Ask if you can spend the night.

If you plan to hunt or fish. Make sure you got your licenses in order.

If you are going on private property, you'd better have permission of the owner, and get it in writing.

If you are going to a park or national wildlife area, or a state wildlife management area, the answer is NO. It places like that, camping is permitted only in designated camping areas.

You can't camp on private property unless you have permission. You can't park on government/city owned property unless it is zones for camping, in which case you would have to pay, which is what you do not want to do. Best advice is to find someone who owns a lot of land and would be willing to let you stay on their land.

Why not do a casserole? fowl and broccoli. I often take a 4 fowl breast, cook dinner them with good seasoning, the two on the range, or baked. i does not propose boiling although, that takes each and all the style out of the fowl. Preheat oven to 375 tiers F (109 tiers C). In a bowl mixture cheddar cheese soup, or mushroom soup (despite you like), bitter cream, milk, an egg. mixture in fowl and broccoli. Pour into casserole dish. Sprinkle with bread crumbs and shredded cheese. Bake for 30 minutes. yet another is lasagna. My husband continuously used to think of it substitute into high priced to make, although, it fee fantastically much the comparable as spaghetti. in case you purchase the sauce it keeps the fee down. additionally, i could recommend paying for the noodles which you do not could cook dinner in the previous hand. It makes it plenty extra elementary to layer. Preheat oven to 375 tiers F (a hundred ninety tiers C). cook dinner the beef, drain fats and upload the sauce. In yet another bowl i like to function ricotta cheese, one egg, and Parmesan cheese. then you definately can start up off layering. positioned meat on the backside, conceal with mozzarella cheese slices, noodles, then unfold the ricotta mixture. shop doing this till you have geared up up they layers ending with the mozzarella slices. conceal with foil and bake for 25mins. verify on the decrease back of the lasagna noodles. some variety on circumstances. do away with foil and bake till cheese is advantageous and bubbly!! good luck, i'm constructive you will do super!!
