I started getting sick right before Thanksgiving. I had a sore throat for about a week and a half. I was feeling better, when I wake up on Thanksgiving and am running a fever and have all the symptoms of a sinus infection. So, I go to the doctor and they told me I have a sinus infection coupled with bronchitis. I finished the first round of antibiotics and felt ok for a couple days. Then, the symptoms came back, so the doctor gave me an inhaler and different antibiotcs. Again, I felt better, but before I was even finished with those antibiotics, I got sick again. This time, I'm running a very low fever of 99.4 every now and then, and the gland behind my left ear lobe is very rare to the touch and when I move my neck. I called the doctor and she just sent me some stronger antibiotcs. What I'm wondering is if this could be something more serious than a sinus infection and if I should go to another doctor or the emergency room?

The problem is that you have multiple infections. Obviously the antibiotics are making a bit of a dent in the bacterial population but not enough.I would make sure to be on a long enough course of medication. If this lot you are currently on doesn't help I would make sure to remind the doctor that you have already had 3 different types as something does need to be done.
Regarding the gland at the back of your neck hurting this does not surprise me as those glands are very important in manufacturing antibodies and increasing yourwhite blood cells which become the army to help fight the infection. I would also increase my vitamin c intake as well as take a B Complex.
If you are into herbal remedies I can suggest Echinacea.

I want to also add that if your neck becomes stiff, and by this I don't mean just tender to the touch and that it hurts when you turn, - actually VERY hard to move, then you should contact your md immediately.

I also suspect that along with these bacterial infections you also have a viral infection which affects your bodies ability to fight.

Good luck and be careful when you get better as you will be quite weak.

If this antibiotic doesn't work, I'd go see an ear, nose, throat dr. or a diagnostician.
