Okay, well i work in a restaurant and today i noticed a red smear on the corner of the bar. I assumed it was cherry juice so for some reason i touched it to wipe it up with my finger. Well right after i touched it, it hit me, "i think this is blood". So i wiped the rest up with a napkin and smelt it and it was indeed blood! It turns out my manager had cut his knuckle and was bleeding. Well my manager does sleep around however i dont know of him having anything. My finger had no open wound at the time..I washed my finger several times and now my skin is peeling a little bit, but other than that my finger is fine. Im trying not to worry about it, but its not really working. Any advice or opinion would be great. Thanks!

if you had an open wound, I would worry...but as your skin was intact and you washed, you have nothing to worry about. HIV cannot penetrate intact skin.

HIV dies immediately when touching the air, you have caught nothing and can't this way unless you had a substantial wound, cut etc. Doctors will back me up with this, think of all the violent fights around the world with blood flying everywhere and yet there are no recorded cases of HIV being transmitted except through deep bites or really severe lacerations that have taken place in places like prison and man these guys really do fight. Magic Johnson played basket ball for years with HIV and so have other sports men and women where there is a high chance of blood being exchanged, yet once again no one has been affected through or shall I say from these positive people. Protective sex is the key to be safe from HIV and not sharing needles for drugs with other people.

without an open would on your finger, assuming that you did not touch your mouth, eyes, or any other area of your body has fluid, (excluding perspiration) you will not contract HIV. You can actually kiss people with this infection without contracting it (without any open sores in either mouth). It is not a bad idea to be tested for HIV if you are sexually active or are concerned for another reason. Some people get flu-like symptoms: Fever, Night sweats, Feeling tired all the time, Feeling sick all the time, Losing weight, Swollen glands when they do have HIV.

You can't get anything unless you have an open cut on your finger where you touched the blood. You did the right thing by washing right away.

You shouldn't be worried about it. As long as you didn't have an open wound directly where you got the blood on you it wouldn't do anything. It sounds like your skin is dry so that's maybe why it's peeling.

If you had an open wound you should probably be worried. If you washed your hand immediately after then you shouldnt worry you cut the chances of contacting anything by at least 80%.

HIV dies almost immediately upon contact with the air. You don't have to worry, but you should be more careful in the future.
