Diagnosis is made on the basis of the appearance or culture of the lesion. Examination may also show enlargement of lymph nodes in the neck or groin.
Viral culture or Tzanck test of the skin lesion may reveal the herpes simplex virus.
Please note that Chickenpox/Shingles are caused by Herpes Zoster virus and they do not cause Cold sore as pointed above. Zovirax ointment eases the pain and can help speed recovery when blisters appear.

I got diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about 5 yrs ago, when I was still in college and had a dumb one-night stand. I know a lot of girls will say this, but I swear I had certainly not done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly it seemed like I was going to have to live with the consequences for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her you-know-what? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/BXacT everything improved.
Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes simplex virus from my body in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to start dating once more. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so fortunate to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a busy cafe, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This system provided the chance to be happy and experience true love. Now I want to help you too by sharing this with the World.

herpes simplex causes cold sores. If you had chicken pox as a child, you have the virus. Testing for this can only be done if you have an active sore, and if you have an active sore, then you don't need the testing, it's obvious.

u can go to your doctor, free clinic or planned parenting where ever u feel more comfortable and trust to have the test done. but if u dont have symptoms it may be harder to determine if u have herpes so if u have a sore or blister get it checked out asap.
