I'm a respiratory therapist and it sounds to me like you have had an upper respiratory infection. If your sputum was yellow then it would be a current infection. The green color means they are white blood cells dieing and this is a sign of an old infection. This could be anything from pneumonia to bronchitis. Do you smoke? Have you had a surgery where you can't get up and walk around or breathe normally? If you smoke then it's more than likely bronchitis. This is normal in smokers. If you've recently had a upper thoracic surgery or a surgery that has put you on bedrest, then it's probley pneumonia. Either way I wouldn't worry because it's going away on it's own. I hope this helps you. God Bless.

once my doctor told me long time back that if the color of phelgm is yellow or green, then its a bacterial infection. But i'm no doctor. So you should get checked by doc. It could be flu or a cold infection due to freezing temperatures outdoors. Or it just could be that someone infected passed on the infection to you, at work or school.
The best advice i can give on my knowledge is that you should wash your hands frequently through an antibacterial soap, especially before eating or after touching surfaces where several peoples' hands touch too. Like door knobs, and taps --- never use your hand. Use a paper towel to do that. A hand sanitizer by purrell or a store brand hand sanitizer would be good too.
But definitely you should get checked by the doctor. It is common during this season to get such infections. If you lack health insurance, then try over the counter flu meds. I think bed rest is the most popular cure for such infection.
Seeing a doc however would be the best solution.

It might be something serious, you should see a doctor. In the meantime, use some Mucinex and don't drink milk or eat dairy. You may also try some "airborne" or equivalent to help boost your immune system. I use elderberry extract, brand name "Sambucol" Both those really seem to help me a lot. I think you have a sinus infection, so take some kind of nasel decongestant too. That may help with the headaches.

If you smoke that could have something to do with it. Look at it this way at least it is productive and it isn't just sitting in your lungs and you then get pneumonia. I would go to the doctor. I could be a form of bronchitis. But a discolored phlem is a sign of infection.

Could just be an infection you can't shake, go see the doc hon, Don't freak out about it, go find out for sure and then get it treated. My wife has had a cold like that for 6 weeks, so I took her to the drug store, got anti Bi's and she's on the mend.
Get well soon.

Sounds like allergies or sinusitis.... Nothing terrible serious. Sinusitis can cause bad headaches. Try using Benedryl. You may need a nasal spray. But don't use any of the otc ones for longer than a week. They can cause polyps if used long term.

symptoms of a cold or respiratory infection. you can take a decongestant with expectorant, sit in the bathroom while the hot steam from the shower loosens the mucus, or go to the doc and get antibiotics. goodluck.

It could be a number of things. Do you smoke anything? Go to webmd.com and use the symptom checker, and if that doesn't help just go see a doctor.
