Wow. It seems like your describing something similar to what I experienced as a kid and occasionally as an adult. I get those achy, sharp pain in my chest / rib area. Often the pain is mild but sometimes it's so bad I can barley take a breath. It also feels like it starts at the bottom of my rib cage and then travels up my side as it slowly goes away. I was told by my doctor it was "growing" pains. Then when I was older, I brought it up again and he said it could be a muscle spam. It's been months since I've had one. With me, the pain only last a few seconds and at the most a minute or two. They also only seem to happen once or twice in a day when i do have them. I would suggest that if they occur more frequently, multiple times in a day I'd see someone about it. It could be nothing or it could be something (kind of obvious answer).

You might want to look at what you're eating. Certain foods used to give me chest pains as well. It could have been from peanut butter or especially from chocolate.

You can try soothing it by drinking an herbal tea like peppermint or green tea. Peppermint is good for digestion and mint is supposed to be good for overall health. Green tea also has overall health benefits. These teas are best drunken in between or after a meal.

If the pain persists then of course, see a doctor.

Have you had a cold recently? If yes, it could be Pleurisy (it makes you feel sharp pains in your chest and often makes people think they are having a heart attack). I had that a few months ago and the best thing to do is see a doctor ASAP to make sure it's not something more serious.

as a paramedic i can tell you any chest pain is a bad pain. let a doctor rule out any heart or lung problems that may exsist. go to the hospital and have everything checked out. being a chest pain patient you will be able to get in much faster then someone who is going for a cold or something.

You need to see a doctor fast - don't wait too long.
If you are having trouble breathing, it could be your lungs or the heart.
If it is either one, try drinking a teaspoon of cayenne pepper in a small juice glass of water. Yes the cayenne is hot but it won't hurt you. Cayenne will open all of the tubes in the lungs and heart and is well-known to stop a heart attack. If cayenne works, you have a major problem and should see a doctor. In the meanwhile, always carry some small dose of cayenne dissolved in water to drink when the pain hits.

For cryin' out loud! HAVE SOMEONE DRIVE YOU TO THE NEAREST E.R!

Chest pains should never be over looked. They'll take a little blood sample and be able to tell if you've had a heart attack or whatever.

This is serious business. GO! NOW! To an ER close to you. This is not a trivial event!

Never take chest pains, regardless of age, for granted. Head out to the ER--ASAP!! I've heard of children as young as 12 die from heart attacks. What makes you any different?

you need to go to the hospital to make sure what it is about..
i had some chest pains 3 years ago and found on my xray result that i have a hole in the heart...when I underwent a 2D-echo, the physician told me it was normal and no hole found... it's better to consult 2 doctors specialist to determine the reason behind your chest pains...it's always better to have 2nd opinion...
act now so youd know immediately its cause ...
