You already have two good answers. Tripe is not a fish. I'm sure there are Italian recipes for it - they have recipes for everything. All Europeans have recipes including the UK. Once thing for sure; it takes a very long time to cook/poach or simmer, hours in fact. Good for the very young, elderly and anyone at all with gastrointestinal problems or ulcers. Actually a very tasty dish when prepared well. When one of my sons was about 11 or 12 he always went to his friend's house for dinner once a week because they were having tripe. I encouraged him to go always because he was such a picky eater at home. I think his friend was Croatian.

No fish is not a tripe as stated from all the other answers. The chinese also make tripe in a black bean sauce.

It's a dish in Croatian cuisine - it's call in croatian "tripice od grdobine" i would translate it into english as "tripe of monkfish"
