Human blood takes approximately 15 minutes to fully coagulate and separate into the serum and red blood cells

I am a pathology collector and when we take blood that has to clot we let it stand from anything from 15-20min sometimes it will take as little as 10min to clot then we spin it.
I have noticed older peoples blood clots faster than younger .
to get a proper time on it a coag study would have to be done.

Took mine onl 5 minutes tops...why? Concerns me because i have swollen foot that dr's think may "just" be cellulitis. Keep in mind I did my own test at home also is there a difference?

10 to 15 minutes. It depends on the person's own clotting ability. In the case of diabetics, this clotting time might be longer.
