There is a test called a fasting blood glucose- you dring a syrup like elixer and have your blood sugar tested at different intervals, and a test called a Hemoglobin A1C, it take several blood sugars over a period of time and that kind of thing (finds an average). The fasting test is relatively inexpensive, and if you have a glucometer available you can test your blood sugars yourself before meals and before bed to see if there is a trend in your results. Call your doc if your sugars are over 200. It can mean there is a problem.

One cheep way is to find someone who checks their blood sugar levels with a meter and strips.

Check 2 hours after eating or the first thing in the morning.

A reading of 100 is good. 200 is not so good. 600 go straight to the hospital!!

After you see what it is you can make a judgment call on weather or not to go to the doctor. If you do--eat nothing for 12 hours before the test.

It is cheap but doctors like to make money. Find someone with a test kit. Use a new lance and test on your arm, it doesn't hurt.
