I'm not sure exactly what your question is but it seems like you are under the assumption that the herpes virus is the same as HIV? (From the mention of your cold sore and then switching to possibly contracting HIV)

These are two very different viral infections. If you have cold sores then you are carrying the herpes virus. MOST (some 70%) of adults have been exposed to the virus and will test positive for having antibodies to it. There are many strains of the herpes virus with type 1 being primarily oral and type 2 primarily genital but they are interchangable. (Checkout the link below) Your doctor is correct that you MAY have spead the herpes virus through oral sex.

As for HIV... contraction is less likely (as other posts have already stated) if there was minimal exchange of bodily fluids. The risk is further decreased seeing as though neither you or your partner has a lifestyle that is high risk for having previously contracted it. You probably don't have anything to worry about.

As a future precaution remember to always be safe and use a condom and choose your partners with some sense of precaution

You probably don't have HIV, however, it is easier to get HIV if you have sex with an open sore like Herpes, so don't have sex when you have an herpes outbreak.

Please check my answer to the question above yours called "How long can you carry genital herpes with out having an out break?" where I mention the oxygen therapy for combatting the herpes. You will still have to see your doctor if you try this, just to make sure your herpes is eliminated or under control.

don't worry your self sick. It can be a bacteria this is easily medicated. can even be an allergy. When you said around your chin - it doesn't sound like HIV or herpes. Did you know that chicken pox comes from a herpes virus and so does fever blisters - but not the STD herpes. Don't worry - stress causes those outbreaks too!

HIV requires bodily fluid to be exchanged, seemen and vaginal secretion, or something to that sort. A rapid HIV test, approximately 3 months after your hi-risk behavior can tell you in 20 minutes. One of you must be a carrier - if you are your partners first sexual contact and visa versa, then you are probably OK.
Don't avoid getting the test because you are afraid of knowing. Knowing in advance can get you started on the drugs. Drugs can slow the spread of HIV in your body, and you can stay healthier for a very long time.
Just a bit of advise, you can get STD/HIV from oral sex, play safe ALWAYS! Good luck.

If you and him have never been sexually active with anyone else and have never used IV drugs...then there is nothing to worry about.

Cold sores can just happen for no reason.

Some people get them.

Heck, even little children get cold sores and they don't have herpes caused by sex.

It is a type of Herpes virus but it is common for people who have never been exposed to the STD herpe to have them.

Calm down.

You're fine.

There are tests for both diseases, so get tested, both of you. It is more likely to be Herpes than HIV, unless one of you is high-risk (many partners, sharing needles, etc..). Herpes has no cure and is miserable, I have it. It can be controlled with daily medication or treated per outbreak. Good luck. Don't panic.

I am absolutely terrified and I feel so alone. I just found out last week that I tested positive for hsv1 and 2. I have been with the same man for the past 10 years and within the last year found out that he has cheated on me with numerous women. I am so scared that I can give it to my children by kissing them and them eating with me...I feel like my whole life has changed. And even though the nurses, my doctor, and websites say that a lot of people have it I still feel like I am by myself. My self esteem has dropped and I feel like I have been used up. But now, My life is very happy.
