The veggie society do one, it gives you ideas of what to eat, why being veggie is good for you and animals, dispells myths about supplements, iron, proteien etc and provides some general welcoming words and articles.
I direct people to them and get good feedback that they are useful
Of course they will also use your details to ask you to join up but the veggie soc ( can't speak for PETA ) are not pushy about it.

Most organizations now call them vegetarian starter guides, as it's just a little booket that explains the whys and hows of being vegetarian. Most will list alternatives to meat and dairy products, and many also have a few simple recipes for you to try out.
And many organizations besides PETA send them out.
Check out www.cok.net to get yours.

Its just a booklet they send you ...
however .... I buy lots of fruit (for snacks and fruit salad), lots of veggies (for snacks and stir-fry) and lots of tofu (great on sandwiches instead of meat, add some lettuce, sprouts, and whatever veggies you have laying around), also ... icecream or the vegan alternative, and lots of rice and salsa.
if you want some recipes e-mail me and i can give you some. Just remember every measurement is an estimate, add more or less to taste or ignore the ingredient if you like.

My dad was a free mason. He got as high as a 32 degree mason and a shriner. They do a lot of good work with burn victims in the Shriner's Hospitals. The donations they get go to people that cannot pay for the doctors and hospital stay. The free Masons was like his church. It was his belief system. I know that in order to become a 32 degree mason you must belive in God.
