If eating meat is wrong, I don't want to be right.

This is why a lot of people are vegitarian. However many people eat meat and are never going to become vegitarian. Eating meats that have specifically been bred for that purpose does a few things: 1. There are rules which govern farmers in this trade - such as making sure that the animals are killed humanely. 2. Because the animals are bred for this purpose we won't eat them into extinction 3. Animals are monitored we know where they've been and are therefore lot healthier to eat than, for example a stray dog might be.

No but I won't eat inorganic or foreign (since I care about pollution) meat.
I personally don't believe killing meat is cruel, IF that meat had a natural life, with all the freedoms it should have, and that meat is for FOOD. When an animal is killed out of murderous desire then that is cruel. But it is natural for all life on earth to consume the flesh of other organism whether they be animals or plants. People have evolved to be able to digest meat. We wouldn't naturally eat a lot- whatever we could hunt and kill ourselves- which is an honest way to eat it. Compared to people who are too squeamish to think where it comes from yet buy it and eat it every day. That's pathetic. If you eat it- you killed it, and by doing it in ignorance and by supporting factory farming then you are committing a cruelty. Fact.
Modern farming methods are cruel for many reason. I won't go into them all. Tell your friends to look on a site such as wwww.factoryfarming.com or www.factoryfarming.org.uk. I do not eat dairy or shop eggs either. The dairy industry is awful and thecows ARE killed- not directly for meat, but after the few short years that they have been milked and bred until they are knackered. Even free range and organic eggs from the supermarket have cruelty behind them. Male chicks are thrown in a skip to die, because they don't produce eggs. Its only the hens that have been looked after.

Oh, and to the chef who answered above- vegetarian options on menus REALLY annoy me. They always contain milk, butter, caged hen eggs or cheese. I do not eat these either. People like me are not just finicky, we are choosing something that is free of animal cruelty. There must be plenty of dishes you could create that have flavour without adding an animal product of some kind?

Eating meat is not wrong, it is just the process of how it is produced that bothers me. I can not go out and kill an animal. I have many pets and have nursed many animals back to health because their life was important to me and I had the power to help.

I am a vegan and have no problems with someone who will go out into the woods and kill the animal and skin it and butcher it up for food. Now, the hunter can not have a knife or let alone a gun to kill it. Just their bare hands. The American Indians had it right that they would touch the animal first before they were allowed to kill it (though it was with a knife or bow and arrow). It was a sign of respect for the animal that was about to give its life so that it could give life to the Indian. They knew that the food was at the expense of the animal's life.

What intrigues me is the kids of today (and some adults) who think the hamburger on their plate comes from the supermarket and not from the cow they petted so lovingly at the field trip that they had the past year. I've seen kids horrified when they were told that this cow would be hamburgers next year when it got big enough.

Another intriguing thing is how people like meat and how good tasting it is. To me, if you eat meat, you should eat it raw like Gollum of Lord of the Rings. How the Hobbits, and most people today, were so grossed out by him eating fish or rabbit raw. To me that is eating meat. But instead the meat has to be cooked, and even then plain cooked meat is still not tasty enough. We have to add spices and other vegetables to make it tasty. The fake meats have the same taste and texture (italian sausage especially) but without the death of an animal. So to me it is a no brainer that I can eat without killing an animal for me to live healthily.

Those are just some of my views.

I'll tell you what - live and let live.

You want to taste a dog - go ahead!

I don't judge you.

However, your question "do you think that we should at least have a taste??" is provocative and implying that vegetarianism is wrong and I am deeply offended.

Why can't you just accept that some people want to be vegetarians or vegans and you want to be a meat-eater.

Bon Apetite and enjoy all your food (no matter where it came from).

Not every culture holds dogs and cats to such high regard. In western society we have set aside certain animals as pets and friends, these animals are no longer considered livestock. I personally don't think I could eat dog or cat meat, but I understand and accept that not everyone feels the way I do. So as long as they don't eat someone's pet, that's their choice really. Some people refuse to eath deer meat, but still eat beef or chicken. So really meat is meat, it all depends on how you view the animals.

Humans are omnivores and can eat both plant and animal foods. Some people CHOOSE not to eat meat. A much much greater majority choose to do so. You will see/hear all kinds of arguments from both sides. The best thing you can do is draw your own conclusions based on your own values system and go with it. It's your life and your choice.

I'm vegetarian but I really don't care if you decide to eat meat or not. It's a personal choice and I don't think that I have the right to decide if someone's beliefs and views are right or wrong.

As a chef, I will eat pretty much anything and have no moral qualms about it. I do respect vegetarians and vegans if they go about the process intelligently. Most restaurants have at least 1-2 vegetarian options per category (appetizer, salad, entree, etc. . .) If you start special ordering things or making bizarre special requests I lose all respect very quickly. If you choose to be self limiting, either work within the parameters on the menu or go to a specialty restaurant that caters to you.

Of course eating meat is not wrong. That is a way humans and many other animals survive, it is part of the food chain. However some people feel a certain way about it and we should respect them for that. They think that eating meat is not good because it is like eating a animal, and they are probably closely connected to animals, or nature. There is nothing wrong with being a vegetarian, there is nothing wrong with being a meat eater, but they both have reasons for why they eat meat or why they don’t.
Sincerely me!
You should probably taste meat it is good!

You may wonder whether it is true or not, but that is not important. But you may agree where we are leading.

Why should we cause the slain, captivate, imprison, torture, strangle and behead a sentient being, obviously we are not starving, but intellectually evolved and we have the choice for gracefully avoid it.
